OAKLAND -– At the tender age of 28, still in mid-career, Stephen Curry is immortalized.
More than four months after Curry spent nearly four hours posing for artists, the Warriors star has a twin made of wax and fiberglass.
The life-size Curry statue was unveiled Thursday afternoon in downtown Oakland. The real Steph Curry was amazed at how perfectly he was captured by the artists at Madame Tussaud’s on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.
“I had to try stay as still as possible, so they could get every angle right,” Curry said. “It turned out well, so I guess it was worth it.”

Same reddish-brown hair, same light caramel complexion, same green eyes. Same tattoos. Same hand size, even the same handprints.
Curry’s wife, Ayesha, was at the unveiling, as were their daughters, Riley and Ryan, as well as his mother, Sonya. Riley, of course, couldn’t help but touch the figure between stares.
Though Curry fretted that he hadn’t gotten a “tighter” haircut, he clearly was pleased with his twin. The statue, crouched in a dribbling position, is wearing Warriors home whites and, of course, Under Armour shoes in blue and gold.

There is no mouthguard, one of Curry’s identifying characteristics, but he suggested one could be added as a “seasonal accent” piece.
“He finally hit it big,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr joked about the 2015 NBA MVP. “He finally made it. It’s official.”
The statue will be on display at Madame Tussaud’s Fisherman’s Wharf as soon as Saturday and no later than next Wednesday.
