Those fans hoping Ray Allen would return to the NBA wearing a Warriors jersey officially can move on to their next wish.
Allen, through his agency, announced Wednesday that will not play this season.
"Over the past several months, I have taken a lot of time to deliberate what is best for me," Allen said in news release issued by Tandem Sports and Entertainment. "I’ve ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season. I’m going to take the remainder of this season, as well as the upcoming off-season, to reassess my situation, spend time with my family and determine if I will play in the 2015-16 season."
The Warriors were known to be among several teams interested in the 39-year-old guard, who has made more 3-pointers than any player in NBA history, as an offensive weapon off the bench.
After spending the previous two seasons with the Miami Heat, Allen spent recent months pondering whether to play this season before deciding he would not.
