Trayce Thompson, an outfielder in the Chicago White Sox organization and younger brother of Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thomspon, has gotten his first promotion to the big leagues.
The news comes according to Klay and older brother Mychel, who let the cat out of the bag on Twitter and Instagram.
The White Sox have not announced the roster move. They host the Yankees at 4:05 p.m. PST.
Some of the greatest news I've ever heard my little bro is in the majors. Words can't describe how proud I am can't wait to get to Chicago!— klay thompson (@KlayThompson) August 1, 2015
Chicago selected Thompson in the second round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft out of Santa Margarita Catholic High School.
The 24-year-old Thompson entered the season as the White Sox's No. 18 ranked prospect according to Baseball America.
In 104 games this season at Triple-A Charlotte, Thompson is hitting .260/.304/.441 with 23 doubles, 13 home runs, 39 RBI and 11 stolen bases. While he has played predominantly in center field, he has seen action in left and right field this season.
