OAKLAND – Stephen Curry scored 25 points to lead four Warriors in double figures in a 113-95 rout of Detroit before a sellout crowd Tuesday night at Oracle Arena.
Power forward David Lee added 17 points, with Klay Thompson putting in 14 and backup center Jermaine O'Neal coming off the bench for 17. Andrew Bogut and Lee led Warriors rebounders, each grabbing nine.
The Warriors put on a passing clinic, particularly in the first half, with 18 assists on 22 baskets. Andre Iguodala led with 11 assists, while Curry was credited with eight.
The Pistons were led by center Andre Drummond, who finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Warriors dominated from the start, taking a 7-0 lead and never really being threatened by a Pistons team that played at Portland on Monday night. With a 23-point lead after three quarters, Warriors coach Mark Jackson in the fourth quarter turned the game over to his reserves.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES: O'Neal's offense was a surprise. He had been struggling mightily with his shot, making only five of 26 this season (19 percent) and scoring a total of 20 points over seven games. He made 7-of-8 from the floor on Tuesday.
The victory was built on Curry's scoring and passing, Iguodala's playmaking and accurate shooting from just about anybody willing to launch. There was comprehensive efficiency, from the contagious passing to the aggressive defense to the offense to every Warrior in uniform. The Warriors shot 60 percent.
TURNING POINT: The blowout was on early, as the Warriors took a double-digit lead (16-4) less than five minutes into the game and finished the first quarter on an 11-2 run for a 35-16 advantage. The Warriors led by 21 at the half, by as much as 29 in the third quarter.
INJURY UPDATE: Backup point guard Toney Douglas was diagnosed Tuesday with a stress reaction in his left tibia. He had been experiencing pain for some time and played through it but now is expected to miss a minimum of two weeks.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Warriors on Thursday face perennial contender Oklahoma City, making its first trip to the Bay Area this season. Point guard Russell Westbrook has recovered from knee surgery and has rejoined a lineup that features four-time scoring champ Kevin Durant. The Warriors never have won a season series against the Thunder and are 5-13 all-time against the franchise that left Seattle in 2008, moving to Oklahoma City.
