Promising Sharks prospect Nikolay Goldobin has been reassigned to AHL Worcester, the team announced on Wednesday.
Goldobin, 18, was one of the Sharks’ final cuts this past training camp, posting one goal and three assists in four preseason games. The offensively-skilled winger was reassigned to HIFK in the Finnish league on Oct. 6, with the thought that he would develop more quickly playing against men rather than returning to his junior team in Sarnia (OHL).
He had 11 goals and 21 points in 38 games with HIFK, and added another five points (1g, 4a) in seven playoff games before his team was recently eliminated, allowing the Sharks to add him to Worcester's roster.
A Moscow native, Goldobin also played in the 2015 World Junior Championships for Russia, registering five points (2g, 3a) in seven games to help his country earn a silver medal.
He was chosen 27th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia last June.
Worcester currently sits in seventh place in the AHL’s Eastern Conference, with 10 games to go. The top eight teams make the playoffs.
