OAKLAND – Raiders interim head coach Tony Sparano was “cautiously optimistic” that defensive end Justin Tuck and fullback Marcel Reece would be able to play Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
He was also curious how the veterans would respond to limited Friday practice participation, their only workout of the week.
Guess that Saturday evaluation didn’t go well. Reece and Tuck were ruled inactive due to injury. So was right tackle Khalif Barnes, who wasn’t expected to play due to a quadriceps injury.
That leaves three starters out of the lineup heading into a crucial home game against Arizona. Jamize Olawale will play for Reece, Menelik Watson will step in for Barnes and C.J. Wilson will lead a committee that accounts for Tuck’s snaps.
The other inactives were expected -- Quarterback Matt McGloin, receiver Vincent Brown, cornerback Keith McGill and guard Tony Bergstrom.
