NAPA – The Raiders have been relatively healthy during the early portions of this training camp, with just bumps, bruises and strains to show for nearly two weeks of work.
A knee injury suffered by David Ausberry is a bit more severe than that. Head coach Dennis Allen wouldn’t offer a formal diagnosis, but he said that needed to be repaired.
“We’re going to do a procedure on that knee,” Allen said after Tuesday’s practice. “He may be out for a little while.”
Allen said Ausberry will have the “procedure” on Wednesday.

The knee injury is a setback for Ausberry, who missed all of last season with a shoulder injury suffered in a 2013 preseason game. Ausberry was listed first on the team’s depth chart despite a close positional battle with second-year pro Mychal Rivera.
Allen didn’t have a recovery timetable, but he didn’t believe the injury was season-ending.
“We should be able to get him back at some point in time,” Allen said. “I’m not sure when that’s going to be. We’ll have to evaluate that as things go along.”
