ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Raiders have signed third-round draft pick TE Clive Walford, the club announced Tuesday.
Walford is the ninth of the team’s 10 draft picks from the 2015 NFL Draft to sign his rookie contract, joining WR Amari Cooper, G/C Jon Feliciano, LB Ben Heeney, LB Neiron Ball, DE Max Valles, T Anthony Morris, WR Andre Debose and CB Dexter McDonald.
The 6-foot-4, 251-pounder was selected 68th overall by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft. He played four seasons at Miami (Fla.), appearing in 49 games with 35 starts and setting all major school tight end receiving records. Walford totaled 121 receptions for 1,753 yards (14.5 avg.) and 14 touchdowns, becoming just the seventh tight end in Hurricanes history to surpass 1,000 career receiving yards.
The Belle Glade, Fla., native led the team in receptions during his senior season, totaling 676 yards on 44 catches (15.4 avg.) and seven touchdowns. He was named a finalist for the John Mackey Award, given annually to college football’s most outstanding tight end. Walford also garnered All-American third-team and All-ACC second-team honors.
