Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is headed for the Pro Bowl. The second-year pro was added to the NFL’s all-star game on Wednesday afternoon, as a replacement for injured Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The honor comes after one of the best statistical seasons by in quarterback in franchise history. He completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 91.1 passer rating. Carr finished third all-time in single-season passing yards and touchdowns.
The Raiders ended up with a 7-9 record during a season when the team and its quarterback made tremendous strides. His jump in passer rating was exceeded by just four other quarterbacks this season.

Carr was announced as an alternate late last month, when Pro Bowl rosters were announced. He joins safety Charles Woodson and edge rusher Khalil Mack as Raiders representatives in the Pro Bowl, which takes place Jan. 31 at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. Fullback Marcel Reece was also voted into the game, but has since been removed due to a PED suspension.
Carr was excited about the honor, which offers further proof that he's the team's franchise quarterback of the future.
Carr is the first Raiders Pro Bowl quarterback since Rich Gannon went each year from 1999-2002. His is the fourth Raiders quarterback to make the Pro Bowl since 1970, joining a list that includes Ken Stabler, Jeff Hostetler, Gannon and Carr.
