ALAMEDA –- Carlos Rogers rarely gets hurt. The veteran cornerback has made 55 straight regular-season starts, missing only two postseason games since the 2011 campaign began.
The durable cover man is in real jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game at the Seattle Seahawks. He missed a week’s work with a knee ailment and was listed as doubtful on the team’s official injury report, which was released after Friday’s practice.
It’s the first time interim head coach Tony Sparano has used that designation, one that Dennis Allen never used before him. Technically speaking, doubtful means that Rogers has a 25-percent chance of playing.
While it's obviously unlikely that Rogers will play, Sparano is holding out hope the he can rebound.
“We’ll make a decision here and see where he is tomorrow as well,” Sparano said. “Carlos is a guy who understands. He’s a smart guy. He knows the plan and has taken plenty of reps prior to this.”
TJ Carrie will step into the No. 2 spot opposite Tarell Brown if Rogers can’t play. Carrie and Nieko Thorpe would be used in the slot, and DJ Hayden’s reps will increase as well.
Some other injury notes from Raiders practice:
-- Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa was ruled out after suffering a hamstring strain in the Browns loss.
-- The Raiders listed several players as probable to play the Seahawks, including veteran fullback Marcel Reece (quadriceps) and defensive end Justin Tuck (knee), who were limited all week.
-- Receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was back at the Raiders complex after tending to a personal matter on Thursday. He’s expected to play on Sunday.
