ALAMEDA – The Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck and cornerback T.J. Carrie were considered questionable on Friday injury report, leading into Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
Neither player practiced much this week, but that information suggests different things for each player.
Tuck is a 10th-year veteran who can play without much practice. Carrie is a rookie who could certainly use the on-field work.
The seventh-round pick insists he’s got the game plan down pat.
“The coaches have done a great job making sure I have the game plan down,” Carrie said after limited participation in Friday’s practice. “You find a good routine and absorb things well from a mental standpoint. I’m in that spot right now.”
Carrie seemed ready to go last week, but was scratched after a pregame workout with interim head coach Tony Sparano. He’ll likely go through a similar experience over the weekend before his playing status is determined.
Recent play suggested Tuck was over a knee strain that bothered him for a few weeks. He missed two practices with a surprise neck injury.
“I’m seeing him get better,” Sparano said. “Obviously the thing this week was kind of a weird thing and we’ll see how it is tomorrow. But, he did work today.”
Other injury notes from Raiders practice:
-- As expected, left guard Gabe Jackson (knee) and cornerback Carlos Rogers (knee) were ruled out of Sunday’s game. Jackson ran on the side with trainers while sporting large braces on both knees. Rogers hasn’t been active during portions of practice open to the press in some time.
-- Receiver Rod Streater did some side work during practice. He was eligible to practice starting Thursday – he’s on injured reserve with a designation to return – but was unable to do so. Sparano indicated that Streater isn’t ready to a full workout. He’s eligible to come off short-term IR before a Week 13 game at St. Louis.
