ALAMEDA – What was expected is now official. As CSN Bay Area reported last week, Raiders receiver Rod Streater will not return this season from a fractured foot suffered back in Week 3.
The Raiders placed him on injured reserve with a designation to return, and had every intention of bring him back this season. They opened up a 21-day practice window on Nov. 24, and he worked out for two straight weeks before suffering a setback. Foot soreness returned, and the Raiders decided to shut him down.

It was a smart decision for player and a team that hopes to retain the impending restricted free agent. There was no point in pushing his way back for one, two games maximum in a season long since lost.
Streater will be fully healthy and able to restart in the offseason program.
He was the team’s leading receiver in 2013, with 60 catches for 888 yards. He also had four touchdowns. His season ended before it could get going, and the Raiders have sorely missed him. Outside James Jones, the Silver Black don’t have a steady receiving presence that Streater could’ve provided.
The Raiders will run out the season with the same group, trying to find players that could help next season, when upgrades are expected.
