Kings forward Rudy Gay, who is progressing through the league mandated concussion protocol, has been upgraded to questionable on the Kings injury report for Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves.
The 28-year-old has missed three consecutive games after sustaining a concussion in last Monday’s loss to the Grizzlies. Sacramento is now 2-7 without Gay in the lineup this season.
The UConn product is averaging 20.9 points per game on the season, which is tied for 12th in the NBA with Portland’s Damian Lillard and was in the Kings practice facility going through on court basketball drills with assistant Micah Nori on Monday.
"I'm hoping he (Gay) gets a chance tomorrow," Kings coach George Karl said after Monday’s practice on the forward potentially playing against Minnesota.
Joining Gay on the injury list is rookie guard Nik Stauskas, who sustained a mid back strain in Sunday’s 101-95 loss to the Jazz at Sleep Train Arena.
The Kings (26-50), who have lost five straight games entertain the Timberwolves (16-60) on Tuesday in the finale of a three-game homestand.
