Bryce Harper had two hits in Friday night's Nationals win over the Reds, but on his second he probably could have had more than a single.
That's not only because the ball bounced off the top of the center field wall and required an umpire review to determine it was not a homer. Harper also didn't appear to run very fast out of the batter's box as he watched the ball sail through the air.
It was pointed out by media and fans as they watched and on Friday manager Dusty Baker confirmed what many thought they had seen.
"You know I wanted to see him on second. Bryce told me that he knew he was wrong and he said it won't happen again," Baker said.
"What do you say when a person tells you that? He knew it. We addressed it in spring training and I guess it had been addressed in the past with a couple other managers. He knew it right away. I didn't dwell on it because he knew."
