The Giants placed Mike Leake on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, the club announced on Friday morning.
The move is retroactive to Aug. 3.
San Francisco recalled left-handed relief pitcher Josh Osich from Triple-A to take Leake's place on the active roster.
On Thursday, the Giants announced that Leake would not make his scheduled start on Friday vs. the Cubs.
Leake, whom the Giants acquired via trade on July 30, reportedly felt tightness while doing his normal conditioning in Atlanta earlier this week.
He allowed two runs over 6.1 innings last Sunday against the Rangers.
Ryan Vogelsong will start tonight in his place.
