Two of the San Francisco Giants' marquee players have been models of consistency this postseason, and were rewarded by setting MLB records in Game 7.
Slugger Pablo Sandoval entered Game 7 of the World Series with 23 hits, two behind the all-time record.
He recorded his 26th hit of this year's playoffs with a two-out double in the top of the eighth inning, establishing a new major league record.
It was his third hit of Game 7.
Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner entered Game 7 with 47 2/3 innings pitched this postseason, 2/3 of an inning behind Curt Schilling's record set in 2001 with the Diamondbacks. By reaching the 48 2/3 inning mark in the bottom of the fifth, Bumgarner set a new MLB record for single postseason.
