After being designated for assignment on July 27, infielder Joaquin Arias has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Sacramento, the Giants announced Tuesday.
Arias was designated to make room for outfielder Nori Aoki, who was activated from the disabled list after missing time with a fractured right fibula.
In 40 games with the Giants this season, Arias is hitting .207/.207/.276 with one double, one home run and four RBI.
The 30-year-old Arias has been a reliable utility player for the Giants since joining the organization in 2011. In four seasons with the big league club, Arias has hit .262/.286/.346 with seven home runs and 72 RBI.
