SAN JOSE -- The San Jose Earthquakes are offering to help end a legal dispute between a youth soccer league, the National Football League and the city of Santa Clara.
The Earthquakes on Monday pledged to open two fields at Avaya Stadium to the more than 1,000 youth soccer players displaced by the Super Bowl 50, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League sued to stop the NFL from taking over a soccer park next to the stadium where the Super Bowl will be held next month.
A deal between the NFL and Santa Clara leaves local players without a field for two months. The city offered the league other facilities but lawyers representing them say the fields are not available on weekends and too small to host games.
A judge is set to rule in the case Tuesday.
