Jesse Hahn was scratched from Sunday’s start against the White Sox because of continued discomfort with his strained right shoulder.
The A’s right-hander told reporters in Chicago that he didn’t recover as well as hoped from his most recent bullpen session and that he’s having trouble getting extension through his delivery.
The team announced that Zach Neal will instead take the ball in Sunday’s series finale in Chicago.
As recently as Friday, all signs pointed to Hahn returning from the 15-day disabled list. He went on the injured list Aug. 5 and threw a four-inning rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville.
