OAKLAND – The A’s plan to remove the upper-deck tarps at the Coliseum for any and all postseason games, including a potential wild card game.
Last season, the tarps came off for the American League Division Series against Detroit. In 2012, the tarps remained for the A.L.D.S. against the Tigers, but the A’s had announced plans to remove them if the team advanced to the A.L. Championship Series.
As of Tuesday night, the A’s were a half-game ahead of the Kansas City Royals for the A.L.’s top wild card spot, putting them in line to host the Royals on Sept. 30 if the standings hold.
The A’s saw a decent bump in home attendance this season. They’ve drawn 1,975,639 fans, which leaves them 24,361 shy of the 2-million mark with one home game remaining Wednesday afternoon.
The A’s drew 1,809,302 last season.
