BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado attended a hearing to appeal his five-game suspension for the June 8 bat throwing incident on Wednesday.
Machado’s appeal was heard by Joe Garagiola, Jr., senior vice president for standards and operations for Major League Baseball.
The hour-long hearing was held at the Orioles’ offices, and a representative from the Players Association, Machado’s agent Dan Lozano and Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette were there in support of the 21-year-old third baseman.
“I think it was fair. We both came to the table and said what we had to say. I think it went well.”
A ruling should be forthcoming in the next few days. Machado must begin serving his suspension as soon as a ruling is announced.
