Everybody knows how important Jon Lester was to the Red Sox over the years, but he's not the only player going over to the A's in a deal for Yoenis Cespedes.
Jonny Gomes, who the Sox signed to a two-year deal last season, is heading over to his former team with Lester. Gomes played a big role in the Sox World Series title last season, becoming a mainstay in outfield more than expected when he originally signed.

His personality was one that stood out on a Sox team that bonded last season in what John Farrell called one of the closest teams he's ever been a part of.
Gomes spoke about the trade on WEEI Thursday morning.

"I think I'm in a situation right now where I'm getting packaged up with the best pitcher in the game and heading over to a team with the best record in the game," Gomes said. "So I'm a little bit excited there, but at the same time you talk about a soft spot in my heart and a soft spot with some of the relationship I've made in Boston, that this chapter, for the time being, has come to an end.
"I definitely didn't want to go anywhere and I just can't fathom a baseball player saying he'd ever want to get out of Boston, to tell you the truth."
