Jonny Gomes, who the Sox signed to a two-year deal last season, is heading over to his former team with Lester. Gomes played a big role in the Sox World Series title last season, becoming a mainstay in outfield more than expected when he originally signed.

Gomes spoke about the trade on WEEI Thursday morning.

"I think I'm in a situation right now where I'm getting packaged up with the best pitcher in the game and heading over to a team with the best record in the game," Gomes said.
