GOODYEAR, Ariz. – A’s third baseman Josh Donaldson left Sunday’s exhibition against Cincinnati with tightness in his right calf, a move that Oakland manager Bob Melvin said was a precaution.
Donaldson grounded out twice and then was replaced by Alden Carrithers at third base for the bottom of the fourth.
“It was just a little tightness in his calf," Melvin said. "He could have played. I don’t expect it to be a problem. He's off (Monday) anyway. I expect him to play the next day.”
