OAKLAND -- The A's will call up right-hander Cody Martin to start Tuesday night against the Angels, taking the place of Chris Bassitt.
Major league rosters can expand to 40 players on Tuesday, though the A's typically don't promote a large number of minor leaguers right away.
Manager Bob Melvin had not yet met with the media when the announcement was made, so there was no immediate word on Bassitt's status or why the switch was made.
Martin, 25, was acquired from Atlanta for cash back in July. Before that, the rookie made 21 relief appearances with the Braves and posted a 5.40 ERA.
