SANTA CLARA – Linebacker Patrick Willis is not expected to be limited in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles by the wrist ailment that kept him out of Wednesday’s practice.
“I’ll be fine,” Willis said on Thursday.
Willis did not say whether he will practice Thursday afternoon. He was not wearing any brace or protection on either hand when he met with the media.
Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said there was initial concern because of the nature of Willis’ injury. Willis has sustained breaks to his right hand three times. He underwent surgery on his left hand after last season.
“I think his status is fine,” Fangio said. “He aggravated his wrist a little bit. I don’t think it’ll be a problem.
“It always is when you hear he’s hurt his wrist/hand area, but I don’t think it’s a problem this time. I don’t think it’ll be a long-range problem, hopefully.”
