SANTA CLARA -- Tight end Vernon Davis, who did not take part in the 49ers' offseason program due to dissatisfaction over his contract status, reported to training camp Wednesday morning.
Safety C.J. Spillman posted a video on his Instagram account that showed Davis in the 49ers' locker room. Davis is shown shaking hands and hugging many of his teammates amid laughter.
Davis forfeited a $200,000 workout bonus with his failure to participate in the 49ers' offseason program. He also subjected himself to nearly $70,000 in fines for skipping the team's mandatory minicamp. When Davis and Alex Boone failed to report to the mandatory minicamp, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said, "(It’s) not the decision I envision being the 49er way.”
Davis is the fourth-highest paid tight end in the NFL in average salary per year behind Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowski and Jason Witten.
The deal Davis signed in 2010 pays him an average of $7.35 million annually. The front-loaded deal pays him $5.1 million in this season and $4.95 million in 2015.
The 49ers have maintained that they will not renegotiate contracts with players who choose to hold out. The 49ers rewarded tackle Joe Staley with a two-year extension last week.

Boone did not report to camp Wednesday, and does not plan to report until he has a new contract, according to sources.
