Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith announced Tuesday afternoon that his next destination will be with the 49ers.
Smith wrote on Twitter less than an hour into the NFL’s free-agent signing period, “Bay Area!!!!!!”
Smith agreed to a five-year, $40 million contract with the 49ers that includes $22 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports. Agent Drew Rosenhaus represents Smith.
Smith gives the 49ers a deep threat that was previously lacking. He is expected to replace Michael Crabtree as a starter, alongside his former Ravens teammate Anquan Boldin.
He has averaged 16.9 yards per reception. Last season, Smith caught 49 passes for 767 yards with 11 touchdowns.
Smith played in all 64 games in his four-year NFL career. Smith has 213 career catches for 3,591 yards with 30 touchdowns.
