SANTA CLARA -- Coach Jim Harbaugh’s willingness to listen to suggestions from his players has resulted in one change this season.
In the past, the 49ers would leave the day before the game for West Coast trips to Arizona and Seattle. And 49ers teams of the past would even travel to a Sunday game one time zone away, such as Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, on a Saturday.
But this season, the 49ers are treating all road trips the same. They traveled on a Friday for their Week 3 game in Arizona. And they will leave on a Friday for their Dec. 14 game at the Seahawks.
“That was something, some of the players had suggested that,” Harbaugh said before the team boarded a plane Friday afternoon en route to Denver. “Frank (Gore), Patrick (Willis) and some of the other guys, Justin (Smith), and (I) pulsed the team on it and something they felt like was the norm now, what we do."
“Six out of the eight games per year are two nights before the game and they felt like that’s what they’re used to and they wanted to do that for all eight out of eight. Obviously, playing in Oakland this year we wouldn’t do that.”
