Positives: Well-built pro-style passer with a huge arm. Can make every throw and push the ball downfield with ease. Can hurt teams deep, as he’s always keeping his eyes up. Consistently puts great touch on the football but can also rifle it to split coverage. Since he doesn’t rely on lower-body technique, he can throw moving to his left. Has a calmness about him. When in his zone, he appears to have a great feel for the position, reacting to pressure, spreading the ball around and improvising. Scans the field well and shows great anticipation, fitting the ball into tight windows.
Negatives: Laundry list of character questions. Undeveloped lower-body mechanics can affect throws negatively. Does not take care of the football. Tends to struggle against the blitz. Inconsistent accuracy. Interceptions with Winston can come in bunches. In addition to inaccuracy, will make ill-advised throws and has a penchant for throwing missing high. Bit of an elongated delivery, which can be a tell for NFL defensive backs.
NFL comparison: Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers QB)
