Three days after being harshly criticized by his head coach for his on-field performance and his loquacious news conferences, Robert Griffin III took a page out of Bill Belichick’s book.
Except it wasn’t, “We’re on to Cincinnati” as Belichick famously repeated following an ugly loss in September. It was Griffin repeating, “We’re focused on San Francisco” as he got peppered by the press for almost eight minutes on Wednesday.
Okay, it wasn’t quite as strong as Belichick’s monotone rant. But it was close.
“Jay [Gruden] wants me to play better. I want to play better. We’re focused on San Francisco and making that happen,” Griffin said, asked about Gruden’s stinging critique. “That’s all I have to say about that.”
The next question posed to Griffin was whether he had considered “dialing it back and saying less and just not being at the center of it all?”
