Wide receiver Kyle Williams was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, one day after the 49ers cut him from their 53-man roster.
On the list of priority for waiver claims, the unbeaten Chiefs were 32nd -- meaning that every team passed on claiming Williams, who caught 12 passes for 113 yards in nine games for the 49ers. Williams lost his job as the 49ers' primary return man, which ultimately led to his release.
Williams will be reunited with former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who was dealt to the Chiefs in the offseason for two second-round draft picks.
The Chiefs waived wide receiver Chad Hall to make room for Williams. Coincidentally, the Chiefs claimed Hall after the 49ers included him among the final cuts before the start of the regular season.
