DENVER -– General manager Trent Baalke said Sunday night he has no knowledge of the possibility that the NFL could reduce Aldon Smith’s nine-game suspension by one or two games.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported Sunday evening on NBC's Football Night in America that the NFL could reduce Smith’s suspension due to good behavior. The NFL on Aug. 29 announced a nine suspension for Smith due to violations of the league’s substance abuse and personal conduct policies.
The NFL told CSNBayArea.com on Sunday night that there is no update on Smith's status.
Under terms of the original settlement, Smith could work out at the 49ers’ practice facility but is not allowed to practice.
Smith is currently eligible to return to the 49ers’ active roster on Monday, Nov. 10, following the team’s Nov. 9 game against the New Orleans Saints. His first game back would be Sunday, Nov. 16, at the New York Giants.
