Former 49ers Running Back and Super Bowl XXIX Champion to Serve as Analyst for “49ers Pregame Live,” “49ers Postgame Live” and “49ers Central”
Watters to Contribute to “SportsNet Central,” “SportsTalk Live,” and Other NFL Programming
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 19, 2015) – CSN Bay Area (@CSNAuthentic), the home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports” and the official cable television home of the San Francisco 49ers, today announced that former 49ers running back and 11-year NFL veteran Ricky Watters (@RickyWatters) has joined the network as a 49ers analyst. Watters will provide analysis and commentary on CSN’s signature programs 49ers Pregame Live, 49ers Postgame Live and 49ers Central, as well as SportsNet Central, SportsTalk Live and other NFL programming. The announcement was made by Chris Olivere, Senior Director of News, CSN Bay Area and CSN California.

Watters added: “I am thrilled to join CSN’s 49ers broadcast team and to share my knowledge and unique understanding of the game that I gained through my experiences as a player and broadcaster. Watters, a second-round selection (45th overall) by the 49ers in 1991, played for the University of Notre Dame where he became an All-American wide receiver and running back and was a member of the school’s 1988 National Championship team. He played 11 years in the NFL (49ers, 1991-1994; Philadelphia Eagles, 1995-1997; and Seattle Seahawks 1998-2001), during which he amassed 10,643 regular season rushing yards and 78 rushing touchdowns and was the first running back to run for 1,000 yards in a season for three different teams. A versatile player, Watters also caught 467 regular season passes for 4,248 yards and 13 touchdowns during his NFL years. Watters was honored as a three-time All-Pro running back and participated in five Pro Bowls (1992-1996). Watters holds the record for scoring the most touchdowns in a divisional playoff game (five vs. the New York Giants in 1994). In Super Bowl XXIX the following season, he scored three touchdowns in San Francisco’s 49-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Following his playing career, Watters spent one season at KTVU-Channel 2 as a 49ers analyst.
