SANTA CLARA –- The 49ers are expected to be without five players due to injuries when they take a bus to Oakland on Sunday to face the Raiders.
The 49ers on Friday officially ruled out right tackle Anthony Davis (concussion), nose tackle Glenn Dorsey (forearm) and tight end Vance McDonald (back).
[MAIOCCO: Davis, Brock, McDonald remain out of practice]
McDonald expressed surprise after the 49ers’ game against the Seattle Seahawks that he was inactive. He said he did not experience a setback, but he did not practice at all this week. He declined to disclose the specifics of his condition.
Also, cornerback Tramaine Brock (hamstring) and special-teamer Raymond Ventrone (groin) did not practice this week and are not expected to play against the Raiders.
Rookie receiver/return man Bruce Ellington is expected to be back in action on Sunday. Ellington is listed as probable for the game. He missed the past three games with an ankle sprain.
