OAKLAND -– Cornerback Chris Culliver, who missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, sustained an injury to his same knee on Sunday and was ruled out of action.
Culliver was in obvious pain after going down with an injury early in the second quarter on a play in which Raiders running back Latavius Murray gained 4 yards.
After getting checked out by the team's medical staff while he remained on the ground, Culliver walked slowly to the sideline. He was carted back to the 49ers' locker room for further observation.
Culliver started 12 of the 49ers’ 13 games this season after missing all of last season with a left knee injury he sustained in training camp.
With Culliver out of action, rookie Dontae Johnson took Culliver’s spot at right cornerback. Leon McFadden entered the game as the 49ers’ third cornerback in passing situations.
