The 49ers will open the exhibition season at home against the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the exhibition season, the NFL announced Thursday.
The 49ers, who will not be featured on any national television apperances during the exhibition season, will open against the Texans during the first week, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 13-17.
They will play their home opener in the exhibition season against the Dallas Cowboys (Aug. 20-24), followed by a Week 3 game at Denver (Aug. 27-30), and at home in Week 4 against San Diego on Sept. 3 or 4.
The 49ers and Raiders have not played in the exhibition season since their 2011 meeting was marred by violence in the stadium and afterward in the parking lot at Candlestick Park. The 49ers asked the NFL to discontinue the yearly series due to concerns over fan behavior.
The 49ers continue their yearly exhibition season series with the San Diego Chargers. The 49ers and Chargers met last preseason on the third weekend after matching up in the final exhibition game for each of the past 12 years.
