SANTA CLARA – The 49ers signed linebacker Kevin Snyder to their practice squad on Monday, according to his agent.
Snyder, an undrafted rookie from Rutgers, signed with the Detroit Lions and was waived-injured in August after sustaining a hand injury. His agent, John Hernandez, revealed on Twitter that Snyder signed with the 49ers.
The 49ers also signed quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad on Monday, according to a source. Quarterback Dylan Thompson was promoted from the practice squad on Saturday to take Colin Kaepernick’s spot on the active roster.
Snyder played in 51 games over the course of his four-year career at Rutgers. He recorded 229 total tackles with 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 10 pass defenses.
As a senior in 2014, he started 11 of 12 games and was voted the winner of the Loyal Knight Award for his display of character in sacrificing personal goals for the good of the team.
