Fourth-year Warriors guard Klay Thompson had never missed an NBA game due to injury – until Sunday.
Thompson sustained a sprained hand/wrist in Saturday's win over the Rockets in Houston and was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Suns in Phoenix.
Replacing Thompson in the starting lineup will be veteran Leandro Barbosa. Signed during the summer as a free agent, Barbosa has been playing well off the bench.
Thompson appeared to injure hand area when he took a fall in the third quarter against the Rockets. Though postgame X-rays were negative, Thompson had difficulty operating during pregame warmups and the Warriors decided to hold him out.
Thompson had missed only one game in his pro career, that coming last March when he missed a game to attend the funeral of his paternal grandfather in the Bahamas.
