In the midst of a stretch in which the Warriors play four games in five nights, Steve Kerr has opted to sit healthy veterans Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala on Friday night against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.
This represents the first time this season in which Kerr has rested veterans for precautionary reasons.
Kerr had previously implied he would occasionally sit Iguodala, who missed 18 games last season with hamstring and knee problems and over the summer underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy.
Bogut returned nine days ago after missing 12 games with chondromalacia and bone edema in his right knee. The 30-year-old center has played in each of the last four games, averaging slightly more than 21 minutes per game.
Iguodala, who turns 31 on Jan. 28, is one of four Warriors who had played every game this season. In his new role coming off the bench, the forward is averaging 27 minutes per game.
Both players are expected to be available Saturday night, when the Warriors meet the Rockets in Houston.
Warriors injury report:
Andrew Bogut (rest) is out.
Andre Iguodala (rest) is out.
Festus Ezeli (left ankle sprain) is out.
