Editor's note: This article is part of an ongoing series in which Monte Poole will highlight a different Warriors player every day leading up to the start of training camp.
Player: James Michael McAdoo
Position: Power forward
Age: 22
Salary: $845,000 in the final season of a pro-rated, two-year minimum contract signed in February 2015. McAdoo can become a restricted free agent next summer.
2014-15 in review: McAdoo spent last season splitting time between Golden State and D-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors. He appeared in only 15 games for the Warriors, playing a total of 137 minutes.
McAdoo displayed consistent effort and was quite efficient for an undrafted rookie playing mostly in garbage time. He scored in double figures three times and his season-high in rebounds was eight. He sold the coaching staff on his potential.
2015-16 outlook: McAdoo is on track for an appreciable boost in playing time. He’s still learning how to play in the NBA, but his ability is evident. He’s a good athlete, runs the floor exceedingly well and makes an impact with his constant motion.
McAdoo will spell Draymond Green at power forward and occasionally might see minutes at center. Coach Steve Kerr believes McAdoo has a chance to play his way into the team’s regular rotation.
