Editor's note: This article is part of a continuing series in which Insider Monte Poole highlights a every player on the Warriors roster leading up to the 2014-15 season opener on Oct. 29
Jason Kapono/Forward
Age: 33
Salary: $1.32 million
Contract status: Signed a one-year contract on Oct. 4 for the veteran minimum.
2013-14 review: Kapono did not play last season, spending that time as a husband and father with his family in the East Bay.
His last active season was 2012-13, as a member of Panathinaikos (Greece) in the Euroleague. Kapono played in 17 games and averaged 7.6 points over 17 minutes per game and made 45 percent of his 3-point attempts.
He last played in the NBA in 2012-13 as a member of the Lakers.
2014-15 outlook: Kapono is vying for the one of the final roster spots. His long-range marksmanship works for him. Most everything else – defense, versatility, overall rust – makes him a longshot.
Should he make the final roster, his role at the far end of the bench will be strictly as a 3-point shooter for very specific situations.
