Editor's note: Leading up to the season opener on Oct. 29, Monte Poole will be profiling every player on the Warriors roster
Harrison Barnes/Forward
Age: 22
Salary: $3.05 million
Contract status: Entering the third season of his rookie-scale contract. The Warriors hold the right to exercise an option for 2015-16 at $3.87 million.
2013-14 in review: Barnes' overall play diminished appreciably last season. His role changed from third or fourth option in the starting lineup as a rookie to first or second option among the reserves.
Barnes' shooting accuracy abandoned him. His confidence sank, perhaps related to being benched after the team's preseason acquisition of veteran forward Andre Iguodala.
Barnes averaged 9.5 points per game, on 39.9 percent shooting from the field.
2014-15 outlook: After a promising rookie season, Barnes admits to his failings last season and realizes he needs a bounce-back year.
He says he has worked to improve all facets of his game, most notably his ball handling.
Assuming he does not reenter the starting lineup – a longshot with Iguodala on the roster – Barnes will be a key reserve for a team that added depth in the offseason.
