OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors signed free agent forward/center Marreese Speights to a contract, the team announced Friday. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released, but Yahoo! Sports reported on Monday that it's a three-year contract.

Speights, 25, split last season between the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging a combined 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per contest over 79 games (three starts). In 24 games last season in which he logged 20-or-more minutes, Speights averaged 14.7 points and 6.9 rebounds. The 6-foot-10, 255-pounder posted five point/rebound double-doubles and a pair of 20/10 efforts on the season.
Originally selected by Philadelphia with the 16th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft after two seasons at the University of Florida, Speights owns career averages of 7.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 16.4 minutes in 344 regular-season contests (61 starts) over five seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers. He had his finest professional season in 2011-12 while with Memphis, appearing in 60 games (54 starts) during the shortened campaign and posting career-high averages of 8.8 points, 6.2 rebounds in 22.4 minutes per contest.
He will wear uniform No. 5.
