OAKLAND -- The Warriors, in their continuing effort to be on the cutting edge, will be the first team in the NBA to wear jerseys celebrating Chinese New Year.
They will wear the jerseys Friday night, when they face the Spurs at Oracle Arena.
Unveiled last month, the jerseys are black with red piping accompanying the gold bridge logo across the chest. The word "Warriors," in red, is spelled out in Mandarin on the chest and on the sleeve will be a goat symbolizing this as the Year of the Goat.
The Houston Rockets, who recently unveiled their version of a jersey celebrating Chinese New Year, will wear them for the first time on Saturday night.
The Warriors will also wear the Chinese New Year uniforms on the road this season on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Washington and Monday, March 2 at Brooklyn.
Monte Poole will preview the Spurs-Warriors game on Yahoo SportsTalk Live and Warriors Pregame Live tonight starting at 5 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
