OAKLAND – There is little doubt that the Detroit Pistons want to be at the front of the line to pursue Draymond Green when the Warriors forward becomes a restricted free agent this summer.
They can hardly wait, based on comments made by Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy prior to the Warriors-Pistons game Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.
"Everybody needs that kind of guy," he said. "Everybody needs that kind of guy. Yes, absolutely, everybody needs those guys."
Van Gundy, who also serves at Detroit's general manager, was asked about the possibility of adding a blue-collar type player, such as Charlotte's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or Green.

Green is a native of Saginaw, Mich., roughly 100 miles north of Detroit. He attended Michigan State in nearby Ann Arbor.
Van Gundy did not mention Green or Kidd-Gilchrist by name, which would be considered a violation of league tampering rules.
