Longtime NBA veteran Jerome Kersey passed away on Wednesday at the age of 52, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.
It's with sadness that I have learned that two friends close to former NBA player Jerome Kersey say he died today.— Marc J. Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo) February 19, 2015
Kersey played 17 seasons after being drafted in the second round of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers.
He spent 11 seasons with Portland, averaging 12.2 points, 1.3 steals, 1.6 blocks and 2.1 assists per game.
Kersey finally switched teams in the 1995-96 season, signing on with the Golden State Warriors.
The 6-foot-7 small forward started 58 of 76 games played and averaged 6.7 points per contest that year.
Kersey played five more seasons after that, suiting up for the Los Angeles Lakers, Seattle Supersonics, San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks.
He retired in 2001, and ranked among the top Trailblazers in franchise history in terms of production.
