It was a cut that Wesley Matthews has made hundreds of thousands of times in his life.

But on Thursday night, Matthews had no idea making this cut against the Dallas Mavericks would cost him the remainder of the season.

With 10:15 remaining in the third quarter, LaMarcus Aldridge rebounded a Monta Ellis miss. Damian Lillard ran the other way, found Matthews, who would cut to the basket, felt a kick like sensation in his left foot, and then fell to the floor.

Matthews heard referee Ron Garretson say, “Oh no,” and knew immediately the injury wasn’t good.
