OAKLAND –- The Warriors hold the team option on forward/center Marreese Speights, and general manager Bob Myers says they’re likely to bring back the man nicknamed “Mo Buckets.”
“He was good for us,” Myers said Thursday night, “so I think we’re inclined to.
“We’ve just got to meet tomorrow to discuss those options . . . I would think we’re leaning that way. But we haven’t committed to it. We haven’t talked to his agent and decided it 100 percent.”
Speights, 27, is coming off his best season, averaging 10.4 points on 49.2-percent shooting, and 4.3 rebounds in 15.9 minutes. He played in 76 games, with nine starts.
The team has until next Wednesday (June 30) to make a decision. Speights originally signed a three-year contract in 2013, with the first two years guaranteed. The option for the third and final years is worth $3.8 million.
