The Warriors had a chance to win at the buzzer, but LaDontae Henton's shot rimmed out. Henton finished with 13 points.
The loss drops the Warriors to 1-1 in league play.
In his second summer league game, first-round pick Kevon Looney scored three points and grabbed six rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.
Starting center Ongjen Kuzmir got on the board with a bucket late in the fourth quarter and finished with four points while pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Former Ohio State point guard finished with five points, five assists and five rebounds.
The Hawks (1-1) were led by former Saint Mary's guard Stephen Holt and Glenn Robinson III, who each scored 13 points.
Former Stanford star Chasson Randle scored seven points and had one rebound in 14 minutes of action for the Warriors.
