WASHINGTON -- The Warriors on Thursday will indulge in the time-honored championship ritual of visiting the White House.
The 2015 NBA Champions, scheduled to arrive in the nation’s capital Tuesday afternoon, will face the Wizards on Wednesday night and visit President Barack Obama on Thursday afternoon before returning to the Bay Area.
And while the president will have more than smiles and handshakes for the players, the Warriors will be bearing their own gifts.
Coach Steve Kerr will present President Obama with a Warriors jersey.
In addition to the current Warriors roster, former Warriors David Lee and Justin Holiday -- member of the championship team -- will attend the ceremony, according to a team spokesman.
Guard Stephen Curry, the reigning NBA MVP, will be making his second trip to the White House. Curry and his father, Dell, last year played golf with Commander in Chief.
The Warriors will be the final NBA championship team to visit President Obama, who is in the final year of his second term.
